Authority Classification System

Official  Numbered Types

Every numbered technique — Type One, Type Two, Type Three, and so on — is an Authority-Authorized Standard Type. These have been officially catalogued, tested, and approved across all four Authorities. They are taught in sanctioned training programs and recognized in every formal combat context. Practitioners are assessed and ranked based on how many numbered types they have mastered.

Personal  Unnamed Techniques

Beyond the numbered catalogue, every Sigil user develops techniques entirely their own — born from personal experience, necessity, and the unique shape of their Elemental Flow. These carry no official number and no Authority recognition, but they are frequently the most powerful expressions of a practitioner's true capability. They cannot be taught. They can only be discovered.

Frost Sigil

A specialized branch of elemental water mastery focused entirely on sub-zero temperatures, ice formation, and the absolute suppression of heat. Where Water Sigil flows and yields, Frost Sigil stops and seals.

Practitioner Tier System

Every Sigil user is assessed and classified by the Authority into one of six tiers, measured by the depth, stability, and ceiling of their Elemental Flow. Tier determines rank eligibility, mission clearance, and how far a practitioner is permitted to operate independently.

Base

Common

The entry state of every Sigil user. Flow is present but unrefined — techniques are unstable, costly, and limited to the first few numbered Types of any sigil. Most civilians with sigil ability never progress beyond this point.

Awakened

Standard

Flow has been deliberately trained and stabilized. The practitioner can sustain multiple techniques in sequence without collapse and has begun to understand the deeper architecture of their sigil. The baseline expectation for Authority field agents and all Grand Selection recruits. Exceptional individuals within this tier operate at sub-tiers that exceed the standard ceiling without yet crossing into Sovereign.

Sovereign

Elite

Flow has been refined to the point of true command. The practitioner can access their sigil's full numbered catalogue, combine techniques fluidly, and sustain high-cost creations across extended combat. Most Authority Generals hold Sovereign rank — it is the practical ceiling of what formal training can produce. Some exceptional individuals exist within Sovereign at sub-tiers that border on the next classification.

Legendary

Legendary — 7 Known

The highest tier a living practitioner has been confirmed to hold. At this level, the sigil and the user are no longer separate — the Flow operates as an extension of intent itself, responding before a conscious command is formed. Legendary-tier combat reshapes the battlefield rather than reacting to it.

Only seven individuals in recorded history have been confirmed at Legendary tier. Each one has been classified as a strategic-level asset — or a strategic-level threat. There is no neutral position at this rank.

Celestial

Mythic — Unwitnessed

No confirmed Celestial-tier practitioner has ever been documented in living memory. The classification exists because the theoretical framework of Elemental Flow demands it — the mathematics of sigil progression does not end at Legendary. What Celestial actually means in practice is unknown. No technique attributed to this tier has ever been observed and survived to be recorded.

Unreached in the current era. Whether Celestial tier is achievable by a human practitioner, or requires something other than humanity to sustain it, remains an open question that the Authority has declined to officially address.

Absolute

God Tier — Beyond Record

The final classification. Not a rank that exists in any active Authority document — it appears only in the oldest recovered texts, referenced without explanation, as if the authors assumed their readers already understood what it meant. Those texts have never been fully translated. The concept of Absolute tier is not taught, not discussed in training, and not acknowledged in any official Authority communication.

It is simply there, at the end of the numbering system, with nothing written beneath it — as if whoever designed the framework left space for something they believed would eventually arrive, and did not want to be the one to describe it.

Beyond the current age of the world. This tier does not belong to the present era. Its arrival, if it comes, will be recognized not by what it can do — but by what changes in everything around it.

Nature of Sigils

Sigil magic is limited only by imagination and creativity. While most practitioners follow established "Types" and "Forms" developed by Authority training, true masters can develop Sigil Arts — unique, high-level manifestations that transcend standard categorization. However, such power often carries a significant physical and mental toll.

The numbered Authority Types represent the known ceiling of sanctioned technique — catalogued, tested, and reproducible. But the greatest practitioners in recorded history were not remembered for their numbered types. They were remembered for what they built beyond them: the unnamed, the uncatalogued, the techniques that emerged not from training syllabi but from the specific, irreducible shape of a person's will under pressure.
